VGA card cooling technology from Gigabyte
Gigabyte has today announced their latest multi-core passivecooling technology, which is built upon the foundation of thecompany's popular Silent-Pipe series. The technology promisesmaximum VGA cooling performance. The new VGA card cooling technology is centered on the principle of'more is better,' says the company. Utilizing three cool pointsinstead of the traditional single node to connect the heat pipes tothe fins, Gigabyte's Multi-Core technology provides additionalthermal conductivity for better performance, especially duringheavy loading. Featuring a series of ultra-thin layered fins with nodes of copper, these added cooling points on the heat pipes help to increase theheat conduction ratio, thereby enhancing overall thermalperformance. Using two vents to take advantage of the naturalconvection of airflow inside the chassis, Multi-Core Technology isable to efficiently disperse the heat from the GPU, and is alsoable to cool down the GPU up to 7 degree centrigrade more than byusing an active fan cooling design, says the company. In addition to its Multi-Core Technology, Gigabyte has developedthe unique Gamer HUD (Heads Up Display) utility to allow hardcoregaming enthusiasts to tweak the highest levels of performance fromtheir VGA card. This utility features the Gamer HUD Engine, asolution to adjust GPU voltage through a software control Heat Control Panel. With multi-level GPU and memory voltage control settings, users cansqueeze the highest amount of performance from their cards, saysthe company. The Gamer HUD utility also supports adjusting of GPU, shader(Nvidia only) and memory clock settings, for maximum overclockingperformance. Furthermore, an all new PWM Frequency feature isbundled in the latest version of Gamer HUD, supporting two modes ofoptimized power configurations. Turbo mode provides an increase inpower, allowing for better overclocking capabilities. Otherwise, you can simply set it to default. In addition, advanced power savings are possible through theauto-optimized 2D/3D GPU frequency switching feature. When enabling2D applications such as email, Web browsing, and media playback, the GPU frequency will be downgraded to 2D mode automatically whichsaves power consumption. For more graphics-intensive applicationssuch as gaming and 3D rendering, the 3D switch is activated, raising the GPU frequency to allow for the greatest level ofperformance. Gigabyte's 2D/3D switch can be set on Auto-OptimizedMode (Enable) or Customizable Mode (Disable), depending on userpreference. Gigabyte claims their VGA cards provide the stability andreliability hardcore gamers have come to expect from their high-endgraphics solution. They also claim that their Ultra Durable 2Edition graphics cards deliver the ideal integration of thermal, electric characteristics, digital signals, power circuitry, andoptimum placement for enhanced graphics performance, improvingstability of electric voltage and current, for the ultimate ingraphics overclocking capabilities. Gigabyte's three Point Cooling and latest Overclocking technologiesare going to be showcased at Computex 2008, which starts tomorrow.
